Business Technology · Central Vancouver Island
Whether it's a support issue, a cybersecurity concern, a compliance question, or a specific project, you reach us directly. We listen to what's actually going on, not to what service package we can sell you.
Sound familiar?
If any of these sound like your situation, you're in the right place.
Phishing emails, spoofed addresses, staff clicking dodgy links. It targets small businesses specifically, because the defences are usually thin. We close those gaps.
If a hard drive failed or ransomware hit today, would you be able to recover? Most small businesses don't know the honest answer to that question.
Cyber-insurance questionnaires can feel like a test with no study guide. We ensure you have the right answers when it matters.
You need to find a document in 10 seconds, not 10 minutes. Digital document management changes this.
BC's privacy rules are real. We help businesses understand their obligations and put the right protections in place.
New computers, a network setup, a migration, something broken. We scope it, quote it, and do it.
Why One Cubed
Not a national helpdesk or an overseas call centre. We've been on Central Vancouver Island since 2011, we know the local business community, and we show up in person when that's what it takes.
When you call or email, you reach the same person who knows your setup. No tier-1 ticket queues, no starting from scratch with a different tech every time.
We'll tell you what we think you need, including if that's not a monthly contract. We'd rather say "you don't need that yet" upfront than sign you up for something that doesn't fit.
What We Do
Every business situation is different. We listen first, then figure out what actually fits.
Your IT department, without the overhead
When something goes wrong, you want someone who knows your setup and is actually available. With managed IT support from One Cubed, you get a dedicated contact for day-to-day issues, proactive monitoring that catches problems before they become crises, and the peace of mind that someone is genuinely watching out for your systems.
Best for: owner-run businesses with 5 or more staff where technology downtime costs real money.
Network, endpoint, and email security: all three covered
Small businesses are targeted specifically because their defences are usually thin. A single successful attack can mean days of downtime, lost data, and serious reputational damage. We secure you across three areas: your email (so scammers can't spoof your domain or trick your staff), your network (so unauthorized access doesn't go undetected), and your endpoints (so every laptop and device is protected, not just the server).
Best for: any business that uses email, handles client data, or wants to qualify for (or lower the cost of) cyber insurance.
BC privacy law sorted, without the legal fees
If your business collects, stores, or uses personal information about clients or employees, you have obligations under BC's privacy legislation and Canada's federal privacy law. Most small businesses don't know exactly where they stand, or what they'd need to show an auditor, insurer, or regulator. We help you understand your actual obligations, put practical protections in place, and document what you're doing so you can answer questions with confidence.
Best for: professional services firms, healthcare-adjacent businesses, non-profits, and any business whose clients share personal information.
Off paper. Organised. Found in seconds.
Filing cabinets, shared drives with no structure, documents emailed back and forth: it works until it doesn't. When you need to find something fast, or share it securely with a client, or know that it's backed up, a better system pays for itself quickly. We set up digital document management that fits how your business works. Your team accesses it through any web browser, from any device, with no VPN or special software required.
Best for: businesses with lots of paperwork, contracts, or records they need to find quickly and protect carefully.
Need something specific done? We do that too.
Not every business needs a monthly IT contract. Sometimes you just need a specific thing done properly: a server set up, ten new computers deployed, an email migration from one platform to another, a network redesigned, or something broken that keeps being ignored. We scope it with you, quote it upfront, and do the work. No ongoing commitment unless that's what you decide you want.
Best for: smaller businesses that manage day-to-day IT themselves but need expert help for specific situations.

About
I started One Cubed because I kept watching local businesses get burned by IT companies that were either too big to care or too far away to help. The island is a different market. Our businesses are owner-run, lean, and don't have IT departments. What they needed was someone they can trust to sort out technology, and tell them the truth about it.
Our approach is straightforward: we listen to what you're trying to do, figure out the right solution, and implement it properly. We're good at finding creative answers to technology problems and equally good at telling you when something isn't worth the cost or isn't going to work.
Our clients range across Central Vancouver Island, from Nanaimo to Qualicum Beach and Port Alberni, from three-person accounting firms to 75-seat networks. Most have been with us for years. The relationship matters more than the transaction, and that shows up in how long people stay.
